As the season has worn on, the Chicago Bears have become weaker across the board. All of a sudden, the leader on the defense, Brian Urlacher, may be done for the year. Tim Jennings, the cornerback leading the NFL in interceptions this year, won't play with a shoulder injury. Some key Chicago Bears won't suit up.
While that is the case, Chicago does get some important pieces back. Rookie wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will be back opposite Brandon Marshall this week and Devin Hester isn't even on the injury report.
The offensive line should be shored up — if you want to call it that — but Chris Spencer will be available for today's game. Chicago hopes Jay Cutler will be protected well enough to deliver passes to Marshall.
As for the Vikings, Percy Harvin was officially announced as lost for the season. It's a crushing blow for the men in purple as he's the second-most important part of the team's offense behind Adrian Peterson.
The Vikings will look to feed Peterson early and often as the Bears have allowed 100 yards on the ground for six straight weeks.
Keep your eyes on J'Marcus Webb and Jared Allen this week. The two sides say nothing will happen between the two, but just two weeks ago, the two got into a fight on the field, causing a bloody nose for Allen.
Allen was also the culprit in delivering an illegal hit on Lance Louis, ending his season. No retaliation is expected, but it's something to be aware of.
It should be a typical divisional game, as both teams will look to grind out a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. We like Chicago in this one and expect a big game out of Jay Cutler, who has looked like one of the better quarterbacks in the league since returning from his concussion.
